Still Standing, The beauty of Southern trees is my first photography book.
Inside the pages of Still Standing you’ll learn about trees while you observe their beauty and strength in these lush photographs of trees throughout the South.
Growing through the ages for hundreds of years, you can see and learn how trees stand the test of time through nature and nurture. Their expressive branches, textures and colors announce the seasons to us as we watch them grow and change in the pages of this stunning giftbook. You’ll see 400-year-old trees, and learn how trees adapt, grow and heal in surprising ways.
For fifty years I took pictures of trees that involved my work caring for & preserving trees. Then I was told that I should share those pictures & started taking photographs of trees. While trees are usually the main character in my work, often a bird, wave, cloud, bridge would become the main character & trees would be supporting actors in the photo.
I am surrounded both by nature's beauty of trees & how trees affect things around them. I use my camera to document the south and then print images with a focus on the magic I find in trees & how they dominate nature. My pictures tell my stories of a life walking among these graceful creatures of nature. In darkness trees become silhouettes of the night & during the day become symbols of massive power.
Through my photography and coffee table gift book, I invite you to bring bits of my stories into your life and home. We can't live without trees. They clean the air we breath.
Trees are truly user friendly. Everyone has climbed on them, sat in their shade, stayed warm burning a log, lived in a house of wood & enjoyed a wooden bench or swing.
